What are Alar Reduction and Bulbous Tip Correction?
Alar Reduction and Bulbous Tip Correction
A nose with a broad alar and gives an impression of easygoing person.
In the past in Korea, this shape of the nose received compliments. However, this nose is not attractive anymore these days due to its dull impression. In particular, many Asians consider this nose shape to be inferior. The causes of bulbous nose are: excessively developed cartilage of the nasal tip; abnormal spread of the cartilage to both sides of the nose; excessive flesh between the nose tip and alar. Considering individuals’ face and needs, we create a sharp and slim nasal tip for you by revising cartilage and/or removing fat layers under the alar skin.
JW does not only reduce the size of the nasal tip but also corrects bulbous tip through reshaping of the nasal tip and refining thick skin tissues.
The Golden Ratio of the Nose to the Face
The ideal width of the alar base is one-fifth of the width of the face. The face looks beautiful when the width of the alar base equals to the gap between the eyes, the so-called glabella. It is ideal that the nose looks like an equilateral triangle from a bottom view and the length of the nostrils is two-thirds of the total length of the nose.

We incise a certain part of cartilage of the nasal tip and refine the cartilage
We can create a slim and polished nose tip by incising the cartilage of the nasal tip and make the cartilage to focus on being the center of your nose.
At the same time, we create a slim nasal tip by reducing the volume of alar or nose tip through cutting a certain part of inner side of nasal skin.
In case one’s alar are wide, we directly reduce the size of the alar. There are several reduction methods: reducing the size by cutting the lower part of inner side of nostrils; narrowing the alar by tying the alar with alar Cinching (gathering alar cartilage by stiching method); and the mixed of incision and tying by cutting directly the outer side of the alar with wedge-shaped, then narrow the width of the alar up to desired width.

Other Alar Reduction Methods
The nasal tip is positioned proportionally well on one’s face, however, as the alar are sunken upwards, the nostrils are visible. In this case, the sunken parts are filled up after a certain inner side of the nostrils is incised.
When it is necessary in order to keep the support of revised parts, autoplasty is transplanted into the inner side of the nose alar.
We directly incise the droopy parts to make your nose appear natural-looking.
We directly narrow the width of the alar by partial incision of inner side or outer side of the alar.
